HTML stands for "hypertext markup language" and is
the basis that all web pages stem from. If you open any website
and do a "view source" of the page you'll see a bunch
of characters and text, this is HTML.
It's easy to teach yourself with Notepad and a good book or
you might want to use an editor like FrontPage or Dreamweaver.
Either way you go you need to learn the tag basics so you can
fix things when they don't display correctly. If you learn to
code by hand you'll be able to tell what's going on behind the
scenes when you have a problem.
There are also numerous free software programs you can download
